Comparing Airsoft and Paintball

It is common knowledge that paintball and airsoft are long time competitors. Each sport has its own vast following, although some people prefer to play both games. However, upon intense comparison, which game comes out on top?

The positives and negatives of paintball and airsoft must be examined to make a rational evaluation. Airsoft has many benefits, such as being realistic and less expensive. Anybody can jump in to it quickly, as extensive preparation is not required.

Because of the nature of airsoft, players can lie about getting hit or not. As for the airsoft guns themselves, the cheaper ones can fall apart if dropped too hard, and can be almost impossible to repair.

Paintball guns can be customized to a greater extent, which many players find very appealing. As for cheating, it is almost impossible in paintball, due to the fact that paint appears on an enemy’s clothing if they are hit. Also, more people play paintball, so it is easier to gather large games together.

There are also a few myths out there about each sport. One big question is which one hurts more? Airsoft pellets give more of a stinging sensation, while paintball is generally painful. This doesn’t necessarily mean one or the other hurts more, because it is all dependent upon where you get hit.

An additional misconception is that paintballs have a longer distance than airsoft pellets. Airsoft guns can shoot just as far or further than paintball guns, especially sniper rifles. Although accuracy decreases with distance, the total distance remains quite large.

In paintball, you will rarely find anyone cheating, but doing so is unfortunately more prevalent in airsoft. Airsoft players know about this, and it is up to each individual to commit to being honorable. Thankfully, if somebody scores a good hit on another, the hit will be known because the other will yell out from the brief pain.

When it comes to the players, those who play airsoft are usually older. This is because the guns are more realistic and airsoft has simply been commonly played by more mature folk.
